It’s been a busy and productive week for our Trinity swimmers.

Last Friday saw the National Independent Schools swimming competition, more commonly known as the ‘Bath Cup’, at the London Aquatic Centre in the Olympic Park. Out of 75 schools from across the country, our boys’ senior team qualified for the final of the 4x100m Freestyle relay, coming a creditable 8th place. The young team of Michael Eagling, Josh Ellis, Marcus McSpadden, Alex Szczepaniak and Ed Pauling, managed a 15th place finish in 4×50 Medley relay.

Our girls team won the ‘Whitgift Invitational Meet’ – the official warm up event for the Bath Cup.  The team of Imogen Smith, Funmi Morgan, Abby Davison, Niamh Singleton and Sarah Rogers competed against 32 other independent schools in the 4×50 Medley, finishing 4th in the final. The team also qualified as fastest for the 4x50m Frontcrawl final. Having smashed the school record already, they set a new PB of 1.58.07 and secured a bronze medal in an excellent performance.

On Wednesday a team of four Junior Year students competed at the Croydon Schools’ Swimming Association’s Primary Finals, which were hosted at Trinity. Schools from around the borough competed in individual and relay races, having shown their mettle in earlier qualifying rounds in January. The team, Oliver Haydon , Piran Lewis, Ben Beadle and Jacob Haunstetter, were successful in the Medley relay, coming an impressive third. This was a lovely evening for the schools, their teachers and the 200 parents spectating. Special thanks also to Roman Coates and Liam Latusek, whose swimming at the qualifiers in January helped the school to progress to the finals.

Congratulations also to Sebastien Pickering and Luca Short who represented Bromley Swimming Club in the National Club Championships last weekend in Cardiff.

Well done to all swimmers!
