This year’s Trinity Schools Book Award went to Penny Joelson for her debut novel I Have No Secrets.
Approximately 200 students (including a group of our students) from participating schools attended the awards ceremony at City of London School, together with three of the shortlisted authors: Tanya Landman, Andrew Norriss and Nicky Singer.
The TSBA is made up of approximately 30 schools, who shortlist six to eight books at the start of each September term. The books are chosen to reflect that year’s theme, to provide reasonable ‘stretch’ for students and to be accessible for students in Years 7-9.
The TSBA not only encourages young people to read and discuss good quality contemporary literature, but also asks them to review and respond creatively to the shortlisted books. Many more students took part this year, voting for their favourite book from the Stand Up, Speak Out shortlist, and entering the competitions for ‘Best Review’ and ‘Best Creative Response’.
Next year’s theme and shortlist will be announced in June and we invite suggestions for both.
