Students in 1P took it upon themselves to write, rehearse and perform an original play to raise money for Charity Week.

The Fairytale That Goes Wrong was a real team effort, with the form choosing to donate the proceeds from ticket sales and other donations made on the night to the WWF.

Impressed by their proactive attitude, their Head of Year Mr Hodge was only too happy to support, saying: “I was so impressed with their maturity and creativity, but they would only continue to surprise me. Their dedication to rehearsing and preparing for the event was outstanding. They had considered everything: from snacks to sell, to how to best advertise the play”.

Their energy and excitement was infectious and, with the help of their mentors and tutor, it proved a very successful evening.

With lots of laughs and rapturous applause, the students entertained their attentive audience.  Mr Hodge added: “The boys deserve all of the praise that has come their way, not least because they raised a lot of money for their chosen charity. A special mention goes to Oliver Lyons, who wrote the vast majority of the play, but it truly was a team effort and I couldn’t be more proud of them as their Head of Year. Well done boys!”
