It is almost two years since a Wyvern Custom organ was installed in Trinity Concert Hall. This excellent instrument has been used for carol services, recordings and concerts and, most importantly, it has inspired a new generation of organ students, all of whom are being taught by Mr Martin Ford, the brilliant organist of HM Guards’ Chapel, Wellington Barracks.
Three students have recently recorded organ pieces and these can be enjoyed on YouTube as follows:
Edward Warner: Louis-Nicolas Clérambault – Récit de Nazard (da Suite du Deuxiéme Ton)
Ben Abraham: Léon Boëllmann – Prière à Notre-Dame (from Suite Gothique)
Simeon Wren: J.S. Bach – Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ (BWV 639)
Simeon Wren: J.S. Bach – Erbarm dich mein, o Herre Gott (BWV 721)
Enjoy!
“We are excited to have come to an agreement with the Vicar at St John’s Church, Shirley, for use of their organ for practice and teaching. The organ is a rare and outstanding example of an organ by the much esteemed Danish organ builders, Frobenius.”
Mr Swinson, Director of Music
