One of our Sixth Form students recently performed the flute and sang famous songs from musicals, to residents in a care home, via video conference.

Jamie Coskun was about to start volunteering at the residential care home in Oxted before the lockdown but due to current social distancing guidelines, he turned to video conferencing app Zoom instead.

He played one of his Grade 8 flute pieces, having just achieved a Distinction in his exam, and sang a selection of songs from musicals.

“It seemed to be very well received. There was certainly plenty of clapping!” said Helen Shakespeare, activities co-ordinator at the home.

Jamie is currently preparing to perform for residents again soon (giving his Mother sufficient time to prepare the piano accompaniment).

Well done, Jamie!
