Our first-ever school newspaper, The Trinity Voice, has been shortlisted for the Shine School Media Awards 2019.

The Trinity Voice was created by Sixth Form student Maddy Burt. Written, edited and produced by a team of students, the paper includes a wide variety of school-related issues and current affairs articles.

The Shine School Media Awards recognises UK secondary schools that produce an outstanding newspaper, magazine, podcast or website.

This year, the judges and committee were overwhelmed by the standard of entries. They said: “As ever, the themes students tackled chimed with the topics at the cutting edge of the national and international news agenda.

“Creatively the photography, illustration and use of new media on show in 2019 offered us extraordinary levels of innovation.

Additionally, the stories we’ve heard of leadership, learning or personal barriers overcome – all by determination and sheer hard work – were truly inspiring”.

The culmination of the competition is a spectacular gala awards ceremony at Stationers’ Hall in the City of London each summer.

Trinity Voice editor Maddy Burt said “It’s so exciting to see our hard work and dedication as a team be rewarded with this Shine nomination. Writing as an active voice of the Trinity community has been one of my highlights of the past two years at this school, and getting to share this beyond the community into a national competition is an incredible opportunity!”
