Actor on stage and screen, Bill Ward, visited Trinity this week for the first of our Backstage platforms: An audience with… series.
Bill spoke to an attentive group of drama students about his career and experience, showing his impressive show reel and responding to questions.
He talked about how he moved from the world of advertising to acting; working with agents, and how he balances working across both theatre and television.
Ward has most recently been seen on stages around the UK, having starred in Everybody’s Talking about Jamie and the Legally Blonde tour. He has an impressive career on both the small screen and the stage, having played roles TV series including Silent Witness, Midsomer Murders, EastEnders, and Coronation Street, and in prestigious UK theatres including the Piccadilly Theatre, Noel Coward Theatre, and Palace Theatre.
Bill gave the group his top five pieces of advice for working in the industry, including knowing yourself and taking responsibility for your work, and shared advice on being resilient in such a fast-paced industry.
Head of Drama Productions, Chris Chambers, said: “Students had the opportunity to talk one-to-one with Bill and it was clear that he had made a real impression on them with his honest and illuminating appraisal of the industry as it is now, offering a window into the highs and lows of theatre and TV. We look forward to welcoming other theatre and film professionals to our Backstage Platforms in the future.”
