Trinity recently hosted one of the four Croydon School Sport Partnership (SSP) qualifying events for the Year 5 and 6 Quicksticks Hockey tournament; with Selsdon Primary, Heavers Farm Primary School. and Oasis Shirley Park in attendance.
Trinity students from Third Year were the Young Leaders for the event and successfully delivered the whole tournament.
“Croydon SSP staff were particularly impressed by how independent our boys were; How they managed all aspects of the tournament and how well they mentored the young visiting students from the schools attending,” said Mrs Long.
“The boys took on a variety of roles during the morning tournament including umpiring, time-keeping, scoring, team managing and coaching. Everyone took their role seriously and the feedback from visiting staff was overwhelming in praising our students for their patient, kind and caring approach to encouraging the children.
“The event finished with a hockey masterclass. For most of the children from the Primary Schools, it was their first-ever time playing on an astro surface. We were delighted to offer them this wonderful opportunity.”
Trinity will be hosting the Quicksticks Final on Friday 11th February. This event will see the top two qualifiers from each of the four qualifying events battling it out for the title of Year 5 and 6 Croydon Schools Quicksticks Champions.
"The feedback was overwhelming in praising our students for their patient, kind and caring approach to encouraging the children."
