This week our Lower Sixth Economics students, together with students from the Quest Academy, attended an Economics Conference here at Trinity.
The speakers included a range of world experts in their fields. Ian Stewart, the Chief Economist of Deloitte, spoke about the impact technology will have on work. Dr Ken Hori, Professor of Economics and Finance, delivered a thrilling lecture on the use of financial instruments and how they contributed to the global financial crisis. Akhil Patel, Principal at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, spoke about the business cycle and how one’s understanding of it can prove useful when investing.
The conference provided a unique opportunity for the students to explore the subject beyond the curriculum. Hopefully it will inspire them to engage further with the subject and help them with their preparations for their studies beyond Trinity.
