Our Fourth Year students recently visited the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.
Ben Turniak de Silva said: “We had a great day at the Surrey sports park. We enjoyed a tour of their fantastic facilities, including the only 50m, eight lane swimming pool in Surrey used by many of the most successful swimming clubs in South East England. We also got to see their rugby pitches, astro hockey pitches, football pitches, indoor halls, and squash courts, as well as their recently-refurbished the gym.
During the afternoon we saw a fascinating presentation on psychology in sport, helping us understand how to improve our performances and deal with nerves, using techniques such as goal setting and mental preparation.
We were also excited to try their high-tech equipment. With multiple stations on offer, we could test our leg strength, the fitness and efficiency of our lungs, and our blood lactate level during anaerobic exercise. We also had a chance to see how our speed, muscular strength and agility compares with the national average!”
