Trinity’s recent performance of Shrek The Musical not only raised the roof – it also raised almost £600 for youth mental health charity, Beyond, founded by author and filmmaker, Jonny Benjamin MBE.
Mr Chambers explains: “We approached Jonny to help with our A Level Drama students research on mental health for their original play. They were keen to use a verbatim style in their production and his responses became key to the development of their piece.
“In return for Jonny’s time we were keen to support his ongoing work and were delighted when those buying tickets for Shrek The Musical also took the opportunity to add a donation to his charity. The amount came to £573. Very many thanks to all who donated so generously.”
Jonny says: “We are extremely grateful to Trinity School for their generous donation to Beyond. It will allow us to provide even more help to young people who are currently struggling with their mental health.
“Since we setup the charity in 2018, we have funded various wellbeing initiatives around the UK, as well as schools directly, allowing them access to support including art therapy, counselling, and mental health first aid.
“Unfortunately, we have seen a rapid increase in young people struggling with their mental health because of the pandemic and lockdowns. However, we are determined to do all we can to truly make a difference.
“All this wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful fundraising effort from Trinity School last year. On behalf of myself and everyone at Beyond we want to say a huge thank you to you all.”
