Schools League Final

Congratulations to our U18 Water Polo team who this week matched the performance of the U16s to win the Schools League Championship title.

It was a tightly contested final, hosted at Trinity, with the team winning two matches and drawing in a third.

The final scores were:

  • Trinity 5-4 Northampton School for Boys
  • Trinity 5-5 Bedford Modern School
  • Trinity 7-3 City of London School

The Schools League title wasn’t a straightforward win; Mr King, Director of Sport says,A real Jekyll and Hyde performance, moments of sheer brilliance, coupled with moments where you’d have thought we’d never played together! Special mentions for Lower Sixth students Callum and Caleb, who were behind many of those moments of brilliance in key moments. Well done.”

ESSA National Semi-Final

The team then travelled to Northampton for the ESSA National Semi-Final, qualifying for the Final as group winners with two wins and a draw. The final scores were:

  • Trinity 2-2 City of London School
  • Trinity 8-3 Dulwich College
  • Trinity 5-2 Manchester Grammar

Mr King said of that performance, “It was a fully deserved win, despite the slow start against CLS, in what was the toughest Semi-Final group we’ve faced in quite some time, containing 4 of the top 6 from last season’s Final in Liverpool (Gold – Trinity, Silver – MGS and Bronze – CLS). Piran, our goalkeeper, was superb throughout and kept the opposition at bay with a series of fine saves. Ollie and Callum also continued their fine form in front of goal.”

Securing this win, makes it 12 Schools League titles that Trinity School, Croydon, has won in the last decade. During that same period, we have also won an impressive 10 ESSA Water Polo National titles, with two left to fight for this season.
